AI Usage Policy
Point:Value (the “Company”) is committed to engaging in transparent and ethical practices. This AI Usage Policy details which Artificial Intelligence systems we use and how we use those systems. While we remain committed to adopting new technologies to aid our work when possible, and encourage our clients to do the same, we also understand the risks and limitations of various AI systems.
Last Updated: August 30, 2025
Scope
This policy applies to the use of all AI systems. For the purposes of this policy, the term “AI system” means an engineered or machine-based system or functionality that is designed to generate outputs such as text and images, make predictions, or create recommendations influencing human action in real or virtual environments. This includes software products licensed by the Company for use in projects and activities and any other external AI tool we may use in the course of performing our duties.
Principles
Based on the AI tools we currently use, we understand AI as a “bag of words.” This metaphor, coined by Adam Mastroianni, compares AI to a bag of words that contains all the words that could be scraped off the internet or scanned out of a book. When users send words into the bag, the AI system sends back the most relevant words it has. There are so many words in the bag that the most relevant ones are often correct and helpful.
We use AI for things that a bag of words can do well. Specifically, we use AI tools to conduct research, analyze unstructured text data, create LinkedIn posts based on articles we’ve written, generate meta-data for articles, draft emails, and search the web.
We do not outsource our thinking or our relationships to AI. AI systems can support and enhance output, but they are not a substitute for original human thinking or genuine human connection.
Moreover, we advise our clients not to use AI for thinking or decision-making. Research shows that AI use in this context weakens cognitive abilities, which undermines the very value we exist to deliver. While steps can be taken to mitigate this damage, the effort required suggests these steps will not be consistently taken. Therefore, we advise against adopting this practice.
We evaluate all AI output. We acknowledge that AI systems can generate authoritative-sounding output that is incorrect, incomplete, or biased. We review everything an AI system generates and are solely responsible for the quality, integrity, and accuracy of such content, regardless of whether AI systems were used in the production of that output. We also acknowledge the limitations and biases inherent in the AI systems we use and we take appropriate steps to mitigate these limitations.
We treat all information gathered from our clients as strictly confidential.. We ensure that nothing is stored by the AI system or used for AI training purposes.
We continue to learn and adapt. We recognize that AI is a rapidly evolving field. We are committed to reviewing and updating this policy as needed.
