activity isn’t the same as impact
Staying focused is one of the greatest challenges for a team. Even the most capable teams can find themselves trapped in a cycle of hyperactive drift.
It’s rarely due to a lack of talent or effort. It happens because most organizations lack a shared system for defining value and making disciplined choices about what gets their time.
Without that clarity, smart people end up driving in too many directions and ultimately, missing opportunities to deliver meaningful value.
It’s a frustrating position for any leader: watching your dedicated team work hard on things that ultimately fail to advance the organization.
there is a better way to work
make value your focus
The point of business is the value you create. When you focus on that, sustainable revenue follows.
make "no" your default
Saying no is how you get more of the right things done. It is the essential tool for creating focus.
make WTP a go-to question
“What’s the point?” cuts through the noise and complexity. It forces clarity and ensures your time is spent on things that matter.
I've spent years watching what works
and what doesn't
My first job as a lifeguard left me guarding an empty pool, watching the clock tick my life away. I knew I didn’t want to live like that, and I became obsessed with how we choose to invest our time.
Fast forward, and I’m working in strategic roles with companies and nonprofits. They were investing significant time and resources to develop a strategy, so I thought they would be deliberate about what they do — and what they don’t.
I was wrong.
That's when I realized the problem wasn't the quality of their strategies, but the absence of a system to make those strategies real. So I created the only end-to-end framework for making strategic choices as a value-driven business.
Hi. I’m Katie Burkhart, the founder of Point:Value.
I remain the lead strategist and facilitator. I am direct, meticulous, and I’ve always thought the first day of school was the best day of the year. I don’t understand small talk and I loathe having my time wasted, so I’m committed to never wasting yours.
As an expert on the value economy, I’ve delivered keynotes and workshops for teams at places like Babson and the Ascent Conference. My work has been published in Entrepreneur, The Startup, UX Collective, and Social Media Examiner. I also write the Substack WTP, which my grandparents still read.
Why "Point:Value"?
The name is essentialist. It includes only the essential elements of our most fundamental belief: the point of business is value.
