We’re encouraged to believe technology is the ultimate solution.
We’re told the latest technology defines the cutting edge of business and we don’t want to fall behind. SaaS platform after SaaS platform promises to solve all our problems. It's not surprising that many leaders adopt the self-purported latest and greatest believing it will transform their business.
"The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency."
— Bill Gates
Yet technology is a tool.
Despite all the promises, technology isn’t a panacea; it can only work with what we give it. If you haven't selected the right combination of practices for your specific business culture, you're only magnifying your pain.
Worse, you may allow the technology to dictate what you do and how you do it, robbing you of your distinction and, ultimately, your success.
Start with the point •
Start by defining the value you exist to deliver. That’s the focal point of your business and culture. Then deliberately design what you do and how you do it to deliver that value effectively.
That includes developing the roles and contributions required to bring your business to life. Knowing what you want to achieve and the way you want to work will allow you to select the tools that work best for your business and ensure those tools move you forward.
